Tis' the Season

Today we began talking about Christmas.  The kids are so excited!  We are making a book called Symbols of Christmas.  We made a tissue paper Christmas tree on the first page.

Thank you to everyone who came to Grandparent's Day!  I took a video of each song Kindergarten sang, it is bad picture, but you can hear them.   I am going to put it on the Shutterfly site. 

Today we played the Growing Train Game and the Disappearing Train in math.  The students rolled a dice and had to add to their train and also take away cubes from their train.  We are getting ready for addition and subtraction!

I just want to thank all of the wonderful parents for helping with the quilt squares.  It is going to be fabulous when it is finished.  Everyone was so creative!

The class went on a nature hunt today in science.  They had to find 8 things on the ground by the bottom of trees. 

We learned a new word in math today:  Probability- the likelihood of a given event.  We talked about how some things are certain, likely, unlikely and impossible. 

This morning we talked about the Pilgrims and why they came to America.  Then we made some pilgrim art and added a poem to it to remind us why the Pilgrims came. 

In math, we used number cards to practice number order and recognition of numbers to 20.

Measuring in Math

In Math we measured different objects around the room using unifix cubes. 

50 Days of School!

Today Zero the Hero came for the 50th day of school and brought a yummy treat.  Gripz mini chocolate chip cookies, but the only way we could eat them was if we counted out 50 cookies.    We counted out 5 groups of 10 to make 50 and then got to eat.
